I have heard many sentences in my life. I have heard the words of Scripture that have shaped my understanding of God and humanity. I have heard the voices of my children when they were born, the vows exchanged at my wedding, the counsel of teachers and friends, and elders who have marked my passage through this world. But I do not think any sentence I have ever heard has arrived with the force of those words from Willard Ferguson in Goma.
