A Historic Interfaith Mission — Oslo, Norway

Oslo, Norway | Kosovo Senior Religious Leaders’ Interfaith Delegation

Among the most defining moments of my peacebuilding journey was the privilege of leading the Kosovo Senior Religious Leaders’ delegation to Oslo, Norway. Gathered in this photograph are Orthodox priests, Catholic bishops, civic officials, and their team members, men and women who, not long before, had lived through one of the most brutal conflicts in modern European history. I had spent months organizing interfaith dialogue sessions across Kosovo, bringing these very leaders together in a province still raw from war and ethnic division. But this week in Oslo was different — it was the culmination of all that work.

Away from the tensions of their homeland, surrounded by the quiet dignity of Norway, these remarkable religious leaders did something extraordinary. They listened to one another, they spoke honestly, and they agreed. The result was a Common Plan of Action — a shared commitment to peace, reconciliation, and interfaith cooperation that they carried back with them to Kosovo.

This work did not stop at Kosovo’s borders. The same spirit of dialogue and reconciliation extended across the entire former Yugoslavia — to Bosnia, Serbia, and Macedonia — countries still healing from the deep wounds of war. I was humbled to be the bridge that helped bring these leaders together, believing always that when religious leaders speak with one voice for peace, nations listen.
