On December 27, 2014, the Times Union’s “Faith & Values” section honored 52 extraordinary people doing good in the Capital Region. I was humbled and deeply moved to be listed first among them alongside Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai and dozens of devoted clergy, educators, advocates, and community leaders recognized as the Rwanda-born Founder of Religion Without Borders USA. To be honored in my adopted homeland of America, after fleeing genocide in Rwanda, was a blessing beyond words.
